My name is Daniel Conway. I am a CPA, business consultant, and author (writing as D.P. Conway). I've spent my career helping people and organizations understand where their money is really going. I am running for State Representative in Ohio House District 15 because homeowners in our community are under unprecedented pressure.
In North Olmsted alone, property taxes rose nearly 40% between 2020 and 2024. Similar increases hit homeowners in Brooklyn, Brook Park, and Cleveland's West Side. For many families, this was the largest unvoted tax increase they have ever seen. They did not vote for it, could not plan for it, were not warned it was coming, and are now being told to simply accept it. Something is broken.
Recent legislation from the Ohio Legislature is a step in the right direction and an important start. But it will provide partial relief and is largely aimed at preventing future spikes, while doing less to address the higher bills homeowners are already paying.

As a CPA and problem solver, I'm running to bring clarity, accountability, and real solutions—both in the cities that make up District 15 and in Columbus.

About Daniel
Daniel and his wife, Marisa, are longtime residents of North Olmsted. They raised their four children in the community, all of whom attended North Olmsted schools, and they are now grandparents to three, with another on the way. Daniel is the son of an Irish immigrant, and Marisa is the daughter of Italian immigrants. They are active members of St. Richard Church and involved in local organizations, including the Mayo Society of Greater Cleveland.
Daniel previously ran a tax practice and has worked as a business consultant helping organizations identify problems, improve operations, and grow. He has authored more than 40 fiction books under the pen name D.P. Conway exploring themes of faith, perseverance, and hope, often centered on Christmas, angels, and stories of Old Ireland.

Daniel and Marisa believe that caring for the body, the mind, and the spirit are connected. They stay active, value physical fitness and dancing, and structure their days around their faith and family. They try to live attentively—aware of the needs of others, guided by compassion, and grounded in charity rather than rhetoric.

My dad asked me whether I was running as a Democrat or a Republican. I told him I'm running as your North Olmsted neighbor—one whose property taxes have also risen nearly 40% since 2020. Like you, I want clear answers. Why is so much more money suddenly needed, and where is it going?
Party labels are not my concern. The people serving in our local governments are working hard and trying to do the right thing. I respect that. But when homeowners feel they have to move, or risk losing homes they worked their whole lives to pay for, it's clear that good intentions alone are not enough.

A resident from Old Brooklyn said that to me recently. It stayed with me. No one should feel that way about their home. This is one of the reasons I am running to be your next State Representative.
Where is all the money going?
It is what everyone is asking. Cuyahoga County's financial report is over 400 pages. North Olmsted's is over 250 pages. The vast majority of taxpayers cannot understand them and are effectively left in the dark.
You shouldn't need to be a CPA to understand how your tax dollars are spent.
"We bought this bungalow to be closer to our grandchildren, but we can't afford $6,000 a year in property taxes."
